Whenever the band had practice, followed by a football game and then a competition, my brain would blur from fatigue and my body would scream in agony, music in my life essay. For a young person with little experience, music can be a hard concept, especially singing. At the age of nine, I stepped into the field of music. My story begins in My mother asked if I would be interested in singing. She suggested I join the Phoenix Boys Choir. She explained what it was and how successful it had always been. I decided to try out. When I arrived, I met the conductor in charge of the younger boys. This would turn out to be one of the most memorable moments of my life. I was going to be a member of the internationally known Phoenix Boys Choir! I moved up through the levels of the choir quickly. Every boy longs to be in the most elite group — the Tour Choir.


After two years, I made it. At 11 I had learned more about music than I could possibly have imagined. I learned music theory and how to read music. By the end of seventh grade I had been to Spain, Italy, and France. It was a blessing to be able to sing in such a holy setting. We also sang in the Florence Cathedral. We traveled around the United States ­performing with other choirs. Often we sang for ­dignitaries, music in my life essay. If my mother had not inspired me to try something out of my comfort zone, I never would have experienced what the world of music has to offer. Marching band is the kind of activity that changes you in ways you do not realize until much later when you look back on the experience. Little did she know how close one can get to a band-mate, or too many band-mates. She saw herself going to upperclassmen everyday seeking help or helping them out; everyone at some point in time is able to be comfortable with one another throughout the entire band. Honestly never had I, myself, felt so supported or loved when I came to be a part of something so special and unique. At this time Miles, 19, moved up in the history of Jazz by recording his first album in New York along side of Hawkins, "Rubberlegs" Williams, and of course Parker. A few months after Parker and Gillespie went to California, Miles got together with Benny Carter's Orchestra and traveled all the way to California as well. We both sat in class ranting on about all the kinds of bands we listen to and which ones we wish we could see live.
